Riding in cars with strangers...

Just around the corner
She asked me,
"Where are you going?"

To the stone wall bridge
To the butter-topped field
Where the wind will carry
Fluttering guilt
A barefoot dash
Do you see those burnt stacks?
Right past my thoughts
The air is clear
False autumn breeze
Crisp, yet fair
Somewhere to share
Yes, I am going there,
Or could it be here?

Fall back
One becomes six
We speak in the silence
of a blank stare.
Sigh of disappointment
Breath of fear
"Just around the corner,
Just a little past there..."
